It occurs to me that the Republican grandious pleas for this one unfortunate person's life falls short when their same words should be taken in literal sense for their assertation that "all human beings have purpose and meaning". It means that the standard conservative policy to support the death penalty is out of line, and it means that the Republicans should be supporting their "right to choice" in all end-of-life decisions, including euthanasia and one's right to choose death. It is eminently clear that this brouhaha is created due to the political coin of the moment and does not apply to others in these situations. Just for the moment, to Terry Schiavo. This is also an interesting comparision of the rights of the pre-born (fetus?)and the rights of those alive but not necessarily alive with their brains intact. Further moral gymnastics are predicted. And let's remind these folks that cuts to Medicaid and Medicare (which FUND) such lives also must not be cut; indeed by this reasoning the funding should increase. BJ 3/21/2005 01:28:00 PM
